A negative result produced by an employee issue is an issue no matter how you look at it. Reprimands are an essential and beneficial fundamental element of professional management. However; the term “Reprimand” generally carries a negative connotation in today’s work place.
Managers feel extremely uncomfortable directly addressing a specific issue with a staff member, therefore “glossing over” what truly needs to be addressed and resolved. This is largely due to the fact that most managers were never properly trained in how to effectively administer a true success oriented reprimand based on proven business management methods and principles.
